The State of Mississippi
	Scott County				Know all men by these presents 
that for and in Consideration of the sum of Eleven hundred dollars the receipt 
whereof is hereby acknowledged, I Martha Lowry of the County of Scott and State 
of Mississippi have this day bargained and sold land by these presents do sell 
convey grant and deliver to James E. Bryan of the State of Alabama and County 
of Sumter the following lot or parcel of Land, lying and being in the County of 
Scott and State of Mississippi. – Viz. Commencing at the south West Corner of 
section Eight and running East 39 chains and 76 links thence north 30 chains & 
41 links thence west 39 chains & 76 links thence south 30 chains and 41 links 
to the place of beginning embracing part of the SW1/4 of Section eight in 
Township Eight Range 7 East, containing in all 120 91/100 acres more or less 
together with all and singular the hereditaments and appertenances thereunto 
belonging or in any wise appertaining.  To have and to hold the said lot or 
parcel of Land its premises and appertenances, to him the said James E. Bryan 
his heirs and assigns forever warrant and defend the said James E. Bryan his 
heirs and assigns against myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns 
and against all and every other person or persons claiming as the claim the 
same.  Witness my hand and seal this January the first 1859.
