John William GOODWIN was born on 10 Jul 1850 in Montgomery County, AL and died 
on 04 Mar 1913 in Boerne, Kendall County, TX.  He was the son of John A GOODWIN 
and Rebecca THOMPSON.  He married Melissa A STEWART about 1870 in MS.

Melissa A STEWART was born in Nov 1855 in GA and died on 15 Mar 1906 in 
Abilene, Taylor County, TX.  She is buried in the City Cemetery, Abilene, 
Taylor County, TX.

Melissa's family was in Scott County in the late 1850s.  John's family was part 
of the wagon train that went from AL to TX in 1868.  His family stopped at 
stayed in Scott County for many years.  In the 1890s John, Melissa and their 
youngest children lived in Bienville Parish, LA, and later in serveral places 
in TX.
