Bill Dunn was stationed in the Philippines and New Guinea at this time as a photographer in the U.S. Army Air Force. He participated in missions over Papua New Guinea and Irian-Jaya to either photograph possible bomb sites, or followed directly after the bombers to photograph the damage being done by U.S. planes. He enlisted in 1942 and returned home in the spring of 1945. Bill was born in Abbeville MS 1919, graduated Univ. of Miss Oxford two weeks before enlisting, married Marion Tauzin one week before enlisting, trained in part at Keesler AFB Biloxi MS. He attained the rank of Staff Sargeant. After the war, he settled permanently in Ocean Springs Ms, where he owned and operated a photofinishing business, was a bank founder and director, a successful businessman and respected community leader. Bill died in 1990 in Ocean Springs MS, leaving a wife and three children.
