S. Armstrong deeply sympathize with her in the death of ner sister, Mrs. Susan Dabney Smedes, who passed away about a week or more ago at her home in Sewanee, Tenn., at the age of 70 years, after a lingering condition of bad health. Mrs. Smedes was quite a talented woman and a great writer, being the author of a book called “The Southern Planter;” a book which received favorable comment by great minds in England as well as America, Wm. H. Gladstone, being among the favorable critics. Additional Comments: Susan Dabney Smedes, was born in Raymond, Mississippi, August 10, 1840 and died July 4, 1913. .Daughter of Col.Thomas S.
