Rone/Roane Cemetery, Tallahatchie, MS Submitted by Helen Arnold ****************************************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ****************************************************************** RONE/ROANE CEMETERY After the book was published we received a letter from a native of Tallahatchie County, Mrs. Sally Adams Lee. She advised us that the cemetery we had listed as Rome is Rone or Roane. This land originally belonged to Redding Womble. He left the land to his daughter, and she married W.D. Rone. Indexed by Nick Denley December 1997, Clerk of Chancery Court Tallahatchie County Mississippi. Every Effort has been made to make this Cemetery as accurate as possible Located TS25 N R3E, Section 14, destroyed. This cemetery is a remote one. It is located one-half mile West of Springhill Road on Oakgrove Road. It is located on the property of J.E. Slaughter, which was once owned by W.D. Rome. Nick talked with Mr. Slaughters Daughter and was told that the Cemetery had fell to decay over the years. She said her father had kept the cemetery up until he became disabled. She stated that she remembered about 15 graves being there and most all of them were marked ROME. If anyone knows who is buried there, Rome or others please let Nick Denley at the Courthouse in Charleston Mississippi know. McCarver, Muriel S./age 90/02-12-1910/11-30-2000 Footstone--W.N.
