"AYERS" CEMETERY UNION COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI (Located 1-2 miles North of Myrtle on C. R. 71) November 7, 1997 This cemetery has long been abandoned but is in fairly good shape. It is located on top of a ridge 150 yards off of CR 71 just north of Myrtle. It contains the oldest headstone that I've seen yet in Union County, dating back to 1836. There were very few settlers in Union County at that time. A special thanks goes to the Pine Bluff hunting club for taking the time to show me the site!
