DARDEN CEMETERY. UNION COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI >PRE 1900 HEADSTONE LIST< (Located 8-9 miles West of New Albany off of Hwy 30 at the end of C.R.27). November 16, 1997 This cemetery is at the end of a narrow county road. It appeared to be kept up by someone. Unfortunately it showed the unmistakable signs of vandalism. Apparently someone at some time in the past thought it great fun to kick the smaller headstones over. Several had been snapped off at the base. ----------------------------------------- James J Maxey Born May 26 1838 Died Oct 24 1908 His Many Virtues Form The Nobelest Monument To His Memory Mary F Jones Born Apr 23 1869 Died Mar 26 1896 Our Darling One Has Gone Before To Greet Us On The Blissful Shore Farewell Richard S Jones Born Dec 15 1830 Died Apr 14 1896 He Shall Gather The Lambs With His Arms And Carrry Them In His Bosom Farewell Mary E Jones Born Apr 22 1822 Died Mar 4 1898 A Bud On Earth Transplanted To The Paradise Of God Farewell Dear Brother Pickron Jones Born Oct 16 1875 Died July 25 1900 Remember Friends As You Pass By As You Are Now So Once Was I As I Am Now So You Will Be Prepare For Death And Follow Me Minnie M Daughter Of F A & H E McBroom Born May 31 1883 Died Aug 1 1886 Margaret Wife Of A Martin Born Mar 20 1844 Died Aug 19 1884 R B Son Of A & M Martin Born Dec 1 1878 Died Aug 30 1879 Marietta Mallory Wife Of J A Pickens Born Sept 18 1832 Died June 15 1882 In Life Beloved In Death Lamented Pickens Jackson Adam Pickens Jan 22 1826 Died Feb 1 1878 His Many Virtues Form The Nobelest Monument To His Memory Pickens Sacred To The Memory Of Mary D Daughter Of J & R H King And Wife Of Col A J Jones Died Sept 17 1867 Aged 31 yrs 9 das Shes Gone Shes Left This World Of Woe For (?)
