I was once I thought within one day of getting it, a man promised to bring me that amount the next day, __ I set a day to start, but he disap =pointed me_ so I was literally forced to abandon my design[?]. I had lately however received a letter from Garrett saying he had enough of the Leake County [Mississippi] negroes in his hands to pay the balance of the Moore debt __ th___ ______ important about my being there as it was that matter principally that I wanted to attend to. I hope it is paid before now so that good will not be emb___ed in your operations on my account. I am decidedly of opinion however that you would be the best (business?)_____ you every did in your ___ ____ it ____ half a league, or a league of your wish it of first rate land in a fine healthy country_ and ___ __ will be worth a dollar per __ what for the next three years. Come & see. The debt __ which Thomas has Polly is paid_ so I hope you will be able to get her. Garrett has the right daughter C__ her as ___ -- make him give you an power of attorney to get her.
