Starla Sue Fitzpatrick CROW AGENCY - Starla Sue Fitzpatrick, 38, of Crow Agency, lost a courageous battle with leukemia on Tuesday, March 24, 1998. Bishe'edaka'ake, "Buffalo Bird" was born March 26, 1959, in Crow Agency, a daughter of Ross and Katherine Stops Old Crow. She grew up in Lodge Grass and attended schools in Lodge Grass and Phoenix, graduating from Lodge Grass High School in 1977. While in school, she actively participated in basketball, as well as being a cheerleader. She later attended Rocky Mountain College, MSU-Billings and Bozeman and Little Big Horn College. She worked for the Indian Health Service in Billings for several years. Starla married Sidney "Chipper" Fitzpatrick Jr. on Jan. 25, 1986, in Lodge Grass and the couple made their home in Crow Agency. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Catholic Church, member of the Greasy Mouth Clan and was a Big Lodge Child. Serving the Lord was an important part of her life, she volunteered her time at a Catholic Retreat Center in El Paso, Texas, and served in a pastoring capacity with cancer patients at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Wash. In her free time, she enjoyed riding horses. Starla was preceded in death by her father and two grandmothers, Annie Old Crow and Fannie Deer Nose. Survivors include her husband, Chip of Crow Agency; two sons, Solon and Sidney Fitzpatrick III of the family home; one daughter, Marina of the family home; two brothers, Nathan (Augusta) Old Crow of Florida and Preston (Jennifer) Old Crow of New Mexico; a half-brother, John (Rhea) Onion of Wyola; four sisters, Adora (A.J.) Turns Plenty of Pryor, Felicia (Lane) Schenderline of Lodge Grass, Yolanda (Roland) Medicine Horse of Florida and Lucinda (Dillon) Black Eagle of Billings; her mother, Katherine Old Crow of Lodge Grass; her grandfathers, Sam Flatmouth of Lodge Grass and John Bull Tail of Crow Agency; her grandmothers, Laura Singer of Lodge Grass, Lucy Real Bird of Garryowen and Christine Stewart of Crow Agency; she is also survived by two people who were raised with her, Newton Old Crow Jr. and Fatima Bad Horse; her special friends, Celine and Glenn Woodbury of Washington, Deann and Larry Hay of Bridger and Peggy Applegate of Geraldine; and numerous other extended family members. Rosary and prayer services will be held 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday in the Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is entrusted with the arrangements.
