"Mac" Walters, 84, of Hardin, passed away March 23, 1998, in the Billings St. Vincent Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1913, in Rankin County, Miss., a son of James M. and Eva B. Franklin Walters. He received his education in Arkansas and later received heavy equipment training in Nashville, Tenn. Mac worked as a heavy equipment mechanic on highway construction projects and oil field equipment projects in 32 different states. Mac married Lelia Brister on Oct. 27, 1940, in Clarksdale, Miss. He retired in 1989 and the family moved to Hardin in 1992. Mrs. Walters died in 1996. He was a member of the Faith Independent Baptist Church of Hardin, Past Master of Independence Rock No. 56 AF & AM Masonic Lodge of Casper, Wyo., a member of Sts. John Lodge No. 92 AF & AM, Royal Arch Masonic Lodge, Big Horn Shrine Club and Jasmine Chapter Order of Eastern Star, all of Hardin. Mac was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward; two sisters, Etoyle and Phanelle; and a granddaughter, Dawn Marie. Survivors include two daughters, Merium (Larry) Giles and Marie (Allen) Hochhalter of Hardin; a sister, Ottabelle McBryde of Pine Bluff, Ark.; two granddaughters, Gina and Dana; and one grandson, Daniel Klopman. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is entrusted with the arrangements.
