Medicine Top, 22, of Crow Agency, died March 1, 1998, in Billings of injuries sustained in a two-car accident. "Been there a long time" was born April 24, 1975, in Crow Agency, a son of Emmette Medicine Top and Lois Crooked Arm. He grew up and attended schools in Crow Agency and Hardin. Alan was an outdoors man who was mentored by Richard White Clay, teaching him all aspects of breaking and caring for horses. He actively participated in rodeos throughout Montana and Wyoming as a saddle bronc rider. He was given the nickname "Bucking Horse" by his rodeo friends. When he was not on the rodeo circuit, he was at home breaking horses for family and friends. He was a member of the Native American Church, United Pentecostal Church, Ties the Bundle Clan and was a Ties The Bundle kid. Survivors include his father, Emmette Medicine Top of Birney; his mother, Lois Crooked Arm of Crow Agency; seven brothers, Albert Rivers, Leonard Gary Gardner (Kathy) and Chalan Medicine Top, all of Hardin, Emmette Medicine Top Jr. of Busby and Alan (Faye) Little Light of Crow Agency, Manford Gardner (Laura) of Lodge Grass and Donald Gardner Jr. of Arizona; 18 sisters, Hilary Isis, Paige, Karri, Terra and Berna Medicine Top of Hardin, Star, Shecheen and Sabette Medicine Top of Busby, Gusena Gardner of Oklahoma, Natashia Crooked Arm, Aretha Brown, Lelah McConnell, Whisper Wilkinson, Shawna Stops, LaRae and Patience White of Crow Agency, Susan Gardner of Lodge Grass and Linda Birdinground (Duane) of Wyola; his grandparents, Clarence Medicine Top of Birney, Charles Brown Jr., of Crow Agency and Ed Little Light of Hardin; his adopted great-grandmother, Myrtle Strong Enemy of Pryor; his aunts, Gladiolus (Jim) Hill, Otelia (Ray) White, Charlene (RC) Old Coyote, Gail (Clinton) Stops, Iola Iron, Patricia and Pauline Little Light, Edwina Venne and Rosella Stewart; his uncles, Mathis, Pius, Vincent and Henry Crooked Arm, Dennis Mountain Sheep, Clyde, Yvon and Curtis Little Light; and his cousins, Pamela Back Bone, Rebecca White, Valencia, Myron and Brad Crooked Arm. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the St. Dennis Parish Hall. Interment will follow in the Crow Agency Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is entrusted with the arrangements.
