All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Alma Susan Bell Allen Obituary Born: March 4, 1855 Riverside, California Died: May 28, 1939 Belfry, Montana ELDERLY MATRON DIES AT BELFRY Mrs. Allen Had Been Resident of Area 39 Years Belfry, May 29, (Special) – Mrs. John F. Allen (Alma Susan Bell Allen), a resident of the Clark Fork Valley for the last 39 years died Saturday of complications due to her advanced age. She was 83 years old. Mrs. Allen Came to Montana in 1880 and homesteaded in the western part of the state and later moved to this community. She was born in Riverside, California and lived a number of years in Salt Lake City, Utah, where the three oldest children were born. Funeral services were conducted by Elder George Flamm of Billings from the Church of the latter-day Saints at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Orville Brower of Red Lodge and Mrs. Arthur Howard, accompanied at the piano by Dorthy Alwin and Faye and Eva Moore sang. The pallbearers were, E. T. Fuson, Guy Walters, Quince Chance, Ralph Fouse, James Winsor and Willard Vines. Mrs. Allen is survived by four sons, Claud, Oliver of White Sulphur Springs, Zadok of Clyde Park and Grant and Elgin of Belfry and by two daughters, Mrs. Henry Goldsmith (Rachel Alma) of Forest Grove, Oregon and Mrs. Leo Caldwell (Eva) of Belfry and 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Interment was in the Chance cemetery and the Oicull(?) Funeral Home of Red Lodge was in charge of the arrangements.
