Strong, 91, Veteran of Civil War, Passes On Old-Time Resident of This Vicinity Leaves Many to Mourn Death. R. R. Strong, Civil War Veteran and well-known resident, succumbed in a local hospital Saturday night after a lengthy illness. His death will be mourned by scores of firends throughout the city. Prior to his illness he resided in Olson gulch. Mr. Strong and his wife, who died in April 1926, were widely known for their hospitality. Frequently members of the Presbyterian church availed themselves of his invitations to hold church picnics at his home in Olson gulch. He was a native of Illinois and came to Montana many years ago. He was born Aug. 13, 1845. During his residence in this state he worked as a prospector. One of Mr. Strong's prized possessions was a crow's foot in pure gold that he took out of a mine tunnel. He had many other similar curios. Mr. Strong is survived by one daughter, Mrs. H. R. Frevert of Gladstone, Ore., and a granddaughter. The body is at the Kendrick funeral chapel.
