Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the Creel Funeral Chapel in Lewistown with interment in the Lewistown City Cemetery. ******************************************************** EDITH A VALENTINE Lewistown papers 4-2-1974 Mrs. Edith A Valentine, 87, Lewistown and formerly of Benchland, died Tuesday morning at Valle Vista Manor. She was born Edith Carr October 28, 1886, in Bridgewater, IO. She came to Benchland in 1911 as an interpreter for the Herbold family. She was married to Elmer Valentine in 1919. They farmed near Benchland until his death Oct. 11, 1952. Two years later she moved to Lewistown. Due to poor health, she had been a patient at Valle Vista for the past two years. Mrs. Valentine was active in church affairs both in Benchland and Lewistown as Long as her health permitted. She was a member of the Methodist Church She is survived by several nephews and a nieces. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p. m, at the Creel-Morrison-Retz. Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Arthur Heath, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ******************************************************** Mrs. John Vogl - 1935 Surname: VOGL Mrs. John Vogl Lewistown paper 11-25-1935 Lewistown, MT The funeral of the late Mrs. John Vogl, who died at Fort Maginnis Friday morning, aged 76 years will be held at 9 o'clock this morning from St. Leo's Catholic Church. ********************************************************* RUTH POTTERF STRAUSBURG VOLK Lewistown paper - 6-30-1978 Ruth Potterf Strausburg Volk Ruth Cora Potterf Strausburg Volk. 72. long time Central Montana resident, died early Friday morning at Valle Vista Manor after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Volk was born Oct 6. 1905. in Raymond, IL ,the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Oscar Potterf. She received her early education in Illinois; and moved to Montana with her parents in 1914, settling in the Roy area. In 1922 she united in marriage to Porter Strausburg. They farmed in the Armells area until Strausburg died in 1924. After his death she moved to Roy where she made her home In July, 1942. she married Louie Volk in Conrad. They farmed in the Roy area. During World War II, she lived in Seattle where her husband was employed at the ship yards. After the war, they returned to Montana and lived in Lewistown. Volk preceded her in death in 1964 as the result of a train accident. Mrs Volk was a member of the Presbyterian Church and VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by four sons, Porter Strausburg, Lewistown, Vernon Strausburg, Lewistown, Curtis Strausburg, Cut Bank and William Volk, Miles City; four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Evelyn) Gradle. Kent, WA, Mrs. Jim (Lavinnie) Bowser, Roy Mrs Fred (Ramona) Youderian, Lewistown, and Mrs Addis(Martha) Avitt, Lodi, CA; one brother, Frank Potterf, Lewistown, and one sister, Mae Carson of Ponca City, CA.: 28 grandchildren and l2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be from the Cloyd Chapel Monday morning at 10 a.m. Rev. Gordon Parke of the First United Presbyterian Church will officiate with interment to follow in the Lewistown City Cemetery. Friends wishing to do so may make memorials to the American Cancer Society or the cardiac care unit of the Central Montana Hospital and they may be left at the funeral home. ************************************************* Anna Vondracek Roy Cemetery Book Born 2-27-1851 Death Date: 10-1-1936 Husband: the late James Vaclav Vondracek Preceded in death by Martha Marie Vondracek (Jecha), daughter, died 12-28-1907, two granddaughter Martha Marie (Jecha) Phillips. 1940 and Antonie Jecha 1904 and one great granddaughter Martha Marie Phillips 1931. Two grandson Edward Martinec 1924 & Henry Martinec 1932, Daughters: Anna (Vondracek) Martinec. Vondracek came to the United States from Austria in 1904, accompanying their daughters and husbands, Frank Martinec and James Joseph Jecha. They first lived in Timken, Kansas, and then came to Montana in 1913 and homesteaded. Their grandson, James Martinec took over their homestead.
