Beckman, 68, Lewistown died Sunday morning in a Great Falls hospital following a short illness. She was born August 17, 1915, in Buffalo, the daughter of John and Verna Edwards. She received her education in the Buffalo Schools, graduating in 1934. Upon completion of high school, she attended Old Intermountain College in Helena and one summer at Normal in Billings (now Eastern Montana College). Mrs. Beckman returned and taught at the Rock Creek School, south of Lewistown. August 28, 1937 she was united in marriage to Elmer Beckman in Lewistown. They lived at Moore and she taught at Buffalo during the 1940s. They moved to Lewistown and she worked as a waitress at the Yogo Inn and the Eagles Manor and a maid at the Yogo Inn. She continued to live in Lewistown following his death in 1980. While in Moore she was a member of the Moore Women’s Club and Moore Methodist Women. She was also active in the United Methodist Church in Lewistown. Mrs. Beckman is survived by fours sons, Dale of Helena, John on Cascade, Robert in the US Navy and Edward of Lewistown; one daughter Janis Sotelo of Washington, IA; one brother, John M Edwards of Lewistown; one sister, Janice Johnston of Raymond, WA; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mrs. Beckman will be held Wednesday, October 12 at 2 p.m. in the Cloyd Chapel with Rev. Ron Barr officiating. Cremation has taken place.
