Lewistown Paper 8-1977 Lewistown, MT. - Fergus County Charles J Bishop, 90, long-time Roy area resident, died Wednesday morning at Central Montana Hospital Nursing Home following a lengthy illness He was born Aug Z5, 1886. at Chippewa Falls, Wis.. the son of John and Mary Bishop He received his schooling and at tended business college in Chippewa Falls. He then worked in the woods and as a court reporter in Wisconsin Bishop was married Louise M Mondeau Aug 17, 1912 in Chippewa Falls They came to Lewistown in 1815 and homesteaded with his parents, who came in 1913. three miles north of Roy Their machinery, livestock and household furnishings came in on the first immigrant train to Roy Bishop farmed and ranched the homestead until his retirement in 1964. when they moved into Roy. He helped organized the Farmers Union at Roy, served on the school board and Fergus County Fair Board. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Roy and the Lewistown Eagles Lodge. Survivors include his wife. Louise, of Roy; a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Umstead of Roy; a son, John J. Bishop, of Chula Vista, CA ; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Rosary will be recited at St. Leo's Catholic Church at 11 a m Monday, followed by a mass of Resurrection. Father Patrick Tarrant will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery Memorials to Sacred Heart Church of Roy are preferred by the family. Patrick Tarrant officiated Rosalie Foster was soloist and Francis Zahler. organist. Pallbearers were Mary Myers, Deane Walrod, Patrick Umstead. Russell Dunnington, James Walrod and Bob Fink. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Wright, Russell Murray, Frank Cimrhakl, Paul Bischoff, Joe Kalina, and Marvin Briemer. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery Creel-Morrison-Retz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
