Horyna, 83, passed away from cancer, at St Vincents Hosptial in Billings, January 27th, 1992. He was born August 10, 1908 at Timken, KA, the son of John and Katie Horyna. He came to Montana in 1912 with his parents and homesteaded at Roy. Jim married Marcella Swoboda on November 2, 1938 in Billings, MT. They raised two sons, Howard and Gene. Jim farmed and ranched all his life on the homestead. He operated a tractor for many long hours even in his late 70’s. Jim enjoyed seeing the green country side and growing crops. He was an avid hunter and like to visit his many friends. He was a devoted father, always had a smile and good word for everyone. Jim was an Eagles member for 40 years, a member of Lodge Black Butte for 66 years, a charter member of the local Farmers Union as well as the Farmers Union Oil Company. Survivors include his wife Marcella of Roy, Howard and Millie and Grand-daughter Patricia of Great Falls, Gene and Sherry of Roy, and a brother Raymond and Sister Ann of Roy. He is also survived by numerous cousins in MT. KS. ID and LA Memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Feb. 3, at 2 pm. Cremation has taken place with the cremated remains being scattered on the homestead. Contributions can be made to the charity of ones choice.
