Lewistown paper 7-18-1996 Othar Limpus Othar Limpus, 91, former Winifred area rancher, died at his home in Lewistown. Limpus passed away on Tuesday morning, June 18, of natural causes. Born May 8, 1905, in Acton, IN., he was the son of Willard and Aurilla Talbert Limpus He received his early schooling in Indiana and in 1914 he moved with his parents to the homestead northeast of Winifred. He completed his schooling in the Winifred schools, graduating from Winifred High School in 1924 as salutatorian of his class, Later, he attended the University of Montana in Missoula. Limpus was the oldest of eight children, four boys and four girls. On Sept. 9, 1926, he was united in marriage to Marie Peterson. Following their marriage, they continued to live on the homestead for a short time, and then moved to the Salt Creek area. While there they had (our children, two boys and two girls. After the death of his father, he and his family returned to the homestead and remained there until his retirement in 1973 when he moved to Lewistown. He was a member of the Christian Men’s Society, the Eagles Lodge and the United Methodist Church. Limpus was known for his exceptional wit and good humor. He enjoyed going to church, his coffee club and his family. He also was an avid fan of the Winifred Red Raiders. He is survived by his wife of Lewistown: two sons, Bill of Lewistown, and Mike of Billings, two daughters, Frances Stulc of Winifred, and Shirley Flinders of Mesa, AZ; one brother, Leroy Limpus of New Boston, Texas: two sisters, Lucille Clark of Big Timber, and Gladys Baquet of Choteau; 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren: and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Loren and Oskar Limpus: two sisters, Bernice Udelhoven and Mildred Robertson: a grandchild, Christy Limpus: and a great-grandchild. Hailey Limpus-Vince. Funeral services were held at the Cloyd Chapel Friday, June 20 at 2 p.m. with interment following in the Winifred Cemetery. Friends wishing to do so may make memorials to the United Methodist Church and they may be left at the funeral home.
