Lewistown paper 8-26-1981 Herman L Lode of Lewistown died suddenly at his home on Spring Creek Road early Wednesday morning. He was 75 years old. The cause of his death was apparently a heart attach. Lode was born on March 13, 1906 in Kalamazoo, MI. At an early age the family moved to Mitchell, SD, where he received his early schooling In 1918 he moved to Harlowton where he completed his schooling. While there, he worked on the family ranch 17 miles northwest of town. On June 29, 1930, he was married to Erma Caton in Lewistown. After his marriage he moved to the Lewistown area, where he resided until the time of his death. Lode ran the Fergus County Rest Home for nine years and at the time of his death he was employed on the Dick Tresch Ranch. He was a member of the Lewistown Moose Lodge, the Legion of the Moose and the American Baptist Church of Billings. He is survived by his wife Emma of Lewistown; his daughter Helen Anderson of Billings; his sisters Fannie Pickens of Billings and Jenny Grandy. Yuma, AZ; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at Cloyd Chapel on Friday at two p m. Ed Pangburn and Mark Knox will officiate. Internment will follow in the Lewistown City Cemetery.
