Lewistown paper died 4-10-1987 Opal Irene Jones Marsh, 81, former Roy and Lewistown area resident, died Saturday evening in a Livingston resthome after an extended illness. She was born July 5, l879 at Missouri Valley, IO, the daughter of, William and Edith Jones and received her early schooling at Missouri Valley. When she was 10 years old she moved to York, NE, with her parents: where she lived until 1913. In August of 1913, Mrs.. Marsh immigrated to Montana in an immigrant railroad car to Armells. MT, then took a wagon train to a homestead 22 miles southeast of Roy She then attended the Edwards School of Business in Lewistown and on July 30, 1917 she married Clifford S. Marsh in Lewistown. After her marriage, Mrs. Marsh lived at Holter Dam and Great Falls before returning to the homestead near Roy in June of 1918 in August of 1981, she and her husband moved to the town of Roy where she lived until 1969 when she retired. In 1973, she moved to Lewistown where she lived until 1977 when she moved to Livingston to be near her daughter. She was active in community affairs in the Roy area, serving as a ~H leader in the Valley View School area. She was president of the Boy Women's Club (or many years, and was' active in the Valentine Community Club. She was also a member of the Roy Presbyterian Church. One of the highlights of Mrs., Marsh's life was directing the community play called "Hans Van Smash" which featured the talents of the people in the surrounding area. She is survived by two sons, William C.(Bill) Marsh of Gardiner. and: Robert W (Bob) Marsh of Rancho Pales Verdes, CA.; two daughters: Adeline Dotson of Livingston, and Irene Stephens of Corvalis, OR; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents. one brother, one: sister and one son, Merle Dean Funeral services for Opal Irene Jones Marsh were from the Cloyd Chapel Wednesday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Roy Cemetery.
