November 30, 1970 Lewistown Daily News -Lewistown, Montana Roy Lynn Phillips, 74, Roy, died Monday evening at the central Montana Hospital. He was born July 21, 1896 in Lexington, Oklahoma the son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Phillips. He received his schooling in Zortman and Lewistown. Phillips married Martha Jecha, October 29, 1929, in Roundup. She died in 1940. December 1957, he married Mae Cottrell in Couer d’ Alene, Idaho. She died in 1964. He then married Irene Rasmussen December 16, 1965 in Lewistown and she survives him. Phillips came to Montana in 1904 and ranched in the Roy, Zortman area nearly all his life, except for the time he served in World War I. He was a member of the American Legion Post No 96 of Roy Survivors include the widow; four sons, Charlie, Lewistown, Jimmie, Moore, Georgie, Lewistown, Billy, Roy; one daughter, Betty Distad, Havre; eleven grandchildren; four step-sons LeRoy Rasmussen, Ulm, Wilfred Rasmussen, Lander, Wyoming, Carl Rasmussen, Warm Springs, Edwin Rasmussen, Roy; three brothers, Hardee Phillips, Waltham, Ray Phillips, Kellogg, Idaho and George Phillips, Missoula. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton and Leon. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. from the Creel-Gurnett-Retz Chapel with Rev. Ronald McConkey officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors at graveside. Friends who wish may leave memorials to the Yellowstone Boys Ranch.
