Story, 88, Lewistown died Saturday evening at his home-following an extended illness. He was born Dec.25, l896 in Marshall, MN the son of Albert L. and Sarah Story. He received his education in Beaver Creek, MN and mechanical training in Kansas City, MO. He came to Montana in 1917 with his brothers Percy and Jack Story. They homesteaded seven miles west of Winnett and Fred began working at the Roy French Garage in Grass Range. Sept. 18, 1918 he married Ruby P. Runnalls in Lewistown. They lived in Winnett where he was employed at Faragher's Garage and later ran the Winkes Light Plant at Winnett. He also worked as a Jailer and Deputy Sheriff for Petroleum County and he was a water commissioner and ambulance driver. In 1941 they moved to Bremerton, WA and worked in the shipyards returning to Winnett in l946, where he operated the Light Plant and installed irrigation pumps for ranchers along the Mussellshell River. In 1952 they moved to Lewistown and he worked for 15 years at the Center for the Aged as a maintenance man. After his retirement he worked as a jailer for Fergus County and later opened his own Precision Saw Sharpening Shop in his home. He later sold his business and began making minature furniture as a hobby. Story was a member of Jerusalem Masonic Lodge No. 115 of Winnett, York Rite Bodies, Central Montana Shrine Club of Lewistown, AlBedoo Shrine Club of Billings and Marie Chapter No. 36 OES of Lewistown and Rimrock Chapter No. 82 OES of Winnett. He is survived by his wife Ruby of Lewistown; one son, Fay Of Lewistown; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Ardith) Woodworth of Lewistown and Mrs. Audrey Manuel of Billings; one brother, Walter of Heron Lake, MN; one half-brother Harold Story of Anaheim. CA; one half-sister Elsie of Anaheim, CA; 11 grandchildren, Larry and Alan Story of New Castle, WY, Jerry Story Of Montrose, CO, Paul Manuel of Fairbanks, AK, Mrs. Jeff (Nancy) Skidmore of Worland, WY Martin Manuel of Spokane, WA, Mary and James Manuel of Billings, Mrs. Richard (Donna) Dengel of Grass Range, Mrs. Bob (Susan) Parker of Lewistown and Shawn Woodworth of Portland, OR and 14 great- grandchildren. Funeral Services for Fred Story will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Cloyd Chapel with interment to follow in the Lewistown City Cemetery. Masonic Rites following the service with Jerusalem Lodge No. 115 of Winnett. Friends wishing to do so may make memorials to the Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital or the Shriners Burns Institutes and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.
