The Whitefish Pilot Vol. XXIV 1927
Advertising literature circulated by the Great Northern and publicity given 
the Whitefish cut-off in the pappers of the state brought Charles A. Matthews, 
the subjuect of this week's Who's Who sketch, to the city.  Mr. Matthews is 
the oldest business man in Whitefish, in the number of years he has lived here 
and has probably seen several hundred business institutions and their heads 
come and go in the past 23 years.  he arrived here in September 1903.
Mr. Matthews was born at Brandford, Ontario, in 1856 and is therefore 71 years 
old.  As his acquaintances know, he is hale and hearty and his apperance 
belies his years.  He is an omnivorous reader and prides hemself on never 
having had to wear glasses.

This is a long article and it tells of his wife, daughter and early times in 
Whitefish.
