He was born in Germany, and after serving in the English army in the Crimean campaign of 1856 came to the United States. He was a veteran of the civil war, serving with the Second Minnesota. He was 75 years old, and leaves a widow, three sons and two daughters. The sons are George, residing at Meadow Creek; William, an engineer, with the Milwaukee railroad, now in Dakota; Dohan, with the O. R. & N., at Butte. The two daughters are Mrs. Whalen of Butte and Mrs. Evan Elmer of Camp Meeker. The funeral services were conducted under the auspices of William English post, Grand Army of the Republic, Rev. Davis Willson of the Presbyterian church officiating.
