THOMAS CRAHAN - pg 1181 From Leeson's History of Montana 1739-1885 published 1885 SURNAMES FOUND IN THIS BIOGRAPHY: WELKEN Thomas Crahan, P. O., Bedford, son of martin and Bridge Crahan, of Faxan, Sibley Co., Minn., was born at Faxan, November 26, 1859; received his education in the common schools there; commenced supporting himself at the age of 15 years; and went in to the ferry business on the Missouri river in Dakota, at the age of 18 years, in which he continued one year, sold out and then made a few trips to the Black Hills, freighting to Fort Meade. He came to Montana in August, 1878; settled at Canton, Meagher county, and went into the saw mill and lumber business with his brother; followed that life three years sold out his interest to his brother and located in Bedford, Jefferson co, Mont. Built himself a dwelling house and also a house of business in the town of Bedford. He married Miss Viola Welken, daughter of W. L. and H. Welken, of Radersburgh, November 18, 1881. They have one child, named May, born October 18, 1882.
