WILLIAM DAVIES - pg 1181 From Leeson's History of Montana 1739-1885 published 1885 SURNAMES FOUND IN THIS BIOGRAPHY: MORGAN William Davies, P. O. Radersburg, was born in South Wales, near Cardiff, Glenmorganshire, in 1816, and was raised a coal miner from the age of 12 years. In 1851 he reached the United States, landing at New Orleans, and going north to a point seven miles south of St. Louis, he continued to follow his occupation there for four years. He next went to Muscatine, Ia., remaining for eight years; then went to Salt Lake city, Utah, and afterward to Austin, Nev., staying at the latter place for nine months. From Austin he made a trip to Mahlad Valley, Idaho, and thence to Radersburg, locating about seven miles below the town on Crow Creek valley, where he has since been engaged in farming. At present his farm consists of 160 acres of pre-empted land, with a homestead of 80 acres adjoining. He was married to Miss Jane Morgan, in Wales, in February, 1843, and is the father of seven children, or whom only three are now living.
