ELLIS - pg 1181 From Leeson's History of Montana 1739-1885 published 1885 SURNAMES FOUND IN THIS BIOGRAPHY: VATTERS; SANDERS; GUYER F. W. Ellis, Jefferson City, is a son of Wm. B. and Mary Ellis, and was born at Watab, Minn., October 18, 1859. When eight years of age his mother died and he passed the next four years at Watertown, Minn. Removing to Minneapolis, he engaged as packer in a shingle mill for the three succeeding years. He was then given charge of an engine in a saw mill for one year, and in 1876 came to Clancy, M. T., and worked in a quartz mill. He also bought, in company with his father, a band of horses, and in 1880 they were traded for one third interest in the Deer Lodge mine, near Clancy, which they sold in 1882 to Capt. H. Guyer. Mr. Ellis was a clerk for two years in Jefferson City for J. G. Sanders. Mr. Sanders sold out to J. Vatters in 1881, an don May 6 in that year Mr. Ellis commenced business for himself. He was soon after appointed postmaster, which office he still retains.
