Woodville, was born in Virginia, May 26, 1844, and is a son of Josiah and Eliza Lockhart, his father having served in the war of 1812, where he won the title of General. Mr. Lockhart was reared upon a farm, and received a moderate education. At the time of the breaking out of the civil war he had just entered a medical college. He served under Stonewall Jackson during the war as hospital steward; remained in Virginia until 1875, principally engaged in farming, and in that year went to Nebraska, and taking up a farm remained upon it about five years.
