McSorley, Radersburg, present Treasurer of Jefferson county, is the son of Hugh and Margaret McSorley, was born at Deerfield, State of New York, October 6, 1830. His parents were of Irish descent and his father was a cooper by trade. Mr. McSorley moved to Dakota in 1867, and after two weeks'sojurn came by steamer to Fort Benton, thence to Helena, paying $10 for the privilege of walking beside a wagon in traveling between the tow places. From Helena he went to Fish Creek, where he engaged in mining and keeping store. In 1878, he was elected Treasurer of Jefferson county and has since been re-elected. He was also Justice of the Peace in this county for five years beginning with 1873, and Superintendent of Schools from 1878 to 1882.
