QUINN - pg 1184 From Leeson's History of Montana 1739-1885 published 1885 SURNAMES FOUND IN THIS BIOGRAPHY: HOWE W. Quinn, P. O. Radersburg, was born at Ottawa, Can., in 1842; was educated there, and in 1858 joined his brother Thomas in establishing a grocery store at Lanark, Can., in which he was interested until September 1864, when he came to Montana. He freighted for two years between Virginia City and Salt Lake City; early in 1867 he was engaged in mining at what is now called Bedford; in July of that year he was in the Crow Creek mines, where he commenced the first ditch in the valley in partnership with S. B. Howe, whose interest he purchased in the fall of 1868. Since that time he acquired by purchase two other ditches, and extended the water system six miles to his ranch in 18790, giving a water system of eighteen miles, with a legal first water right of 2,000 inches, recorded for irrigating purposes. His ranch of 160 acres is five miles from Radersburg, and to it are to be added 1, 280 acres.
