WARD - pg 1186 From Leeson's History of Montana 1739-1885 published 1885 SURNAMES FOUND IN THIS BIOGRAPHY: JORDAN W. J. Ward, P. O. Woodville, was born in Ireland August 15, 1823. In his native country he followed mining until 29 years of age, when he came to the United States and worked in the mines at New Castle, Penn., Midland mines in Maryland and at rock Springs, Wy. T., at which latter place he built and operated the Wyoming House, which cost about $10,000, and was consumed by fire in 1876. He then went to Green river, where he had a hotel called the Ward House; thence into the Sweetwater country and followed mining; then worked and mined at various places until 1879, when he came to Butte City and soon after struck the extension of the 4th of July mine, and it being situated near Woodville he moved there and engaged in the mercantile, liquor and hotel business, which he still continues, and also owns the Toreza, Monitor, Parnell, Orphan Boy, Enterprise and Silver Thread mines. Mr. Ward was married in Scotland in 1856 to Miss Toreza Jordan, by whom he has six children.
