Wells, Radersburg, is a native of Connecticut, and was born January 14, 1840. His parents were Rossetter and Emily B. Wells, farmers, residing at Weathersfield, where his father died. Mr. Wells received a good common school education, and when about 15 years of age engaged in the drug business, at which he continued for eleven years, at Hartford and New Haven, Conn. He went to Brooklyn, N. Y., and two years afterward came to what is known as Mountain City, a town seven miles form Helena. After operating some time in mines there, he came to Radersburg in 1869, where he invested in mining property and has since been connected with the mines here in various ways. He has filled the office of Clerk of the District Court, Third Judicial District, a position of trust and importance, since 1878.
