WILLIAMS - pg 1187 From Leeson's History of Montana 1739-1885 published 1885 SURNAMES FOUND IN THIS BIOGRAPHY: MATTHEWS Wm. U. Williams, Radersburg, was born at Napierville, Canada, in 1832. He is the son of Winslow and Lucinda (Matthews) Williams and his father was a hop grower by occupation. He received a common school education, remaining with his parents until 18 years of age, where he entered a store as clerk and continued in that employment for ten years. Learning the carpenter's trade he went to New York in 1848 and worked in that capacity for about two years, when he went to Aurora, Ill. After two or three years he moved to Chippewa City, Wis., afterward coming to Montana and finally settling near Radersburg. In 1869 he married Mrs. Pool, of Indiana. there are five children: Laura Pool, Winslow Williams, Bismarck Williams, Arthur Williams and Frank Leslie Williams.
