Woodville, was born in Canada, June 21, 1827, and is a son of Thomas and Eliza Wright. He was reared on a farm and received a fair business education. He came to the United States and settled in California at an early day; followed mining in the various camps of that state, and from there went to British Columbia, where he mined during 1861-2, afterward engaging in the same business at Placerville, in the Boise Basin until 1866, at Oregon Gulch Cave and in the vicinity of Canyon Ferry and Belmont, Mont. In March, 1882, he settled at Woodville, Jefferson co., Mont., and engaged in Mercantile business, which he still continues. He is also postmaster at that place, having been appointed to that position in August, 1882. Mr. Wright has suffered many hardships during the years spent on the frontier, and has all the experiences of an Old Timer of the mountians.
