Ben was born Feb 1, 1898 in Hastings, Dakota Co., Minnesota. 



Grandpa attended St. John's University at Collegeville, MN and the University 
of Minnesota. He was a WW I veteran of the U.S. Army. He came with his 
homesteading parents to eastern Montana. He married Lucinda Brockley in 
Plentywood MT in 1923. He worked 17.5 years with Farmers Cooperative Elevator 
in Dodson, MT, and two years as grain inspector for the Royal Milling Co. in 
Great Falls.

Grandpa was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Ravoux General 
Assembly, St. Paul, MN, anda third degree member for more than 50 years at 
Hastings, MN.

Grandpa worked for more than 20 years as an auditor for the IRS at Lewistown, 
Great Falls, Kalispell, and Helena, retiring for good there in 1964.

Upon his retirement he was presented with the Albert Gallatin Award for 
recognition of his many years' service to the Treasury Department, and his 
valuable service to the Government.



His daughter Dorothy's birth certificate has his middle name as Jonathan; his 
application for a SSAN has simply John as his middle name.



He is buried in Helena, MT at the catholic cemetery out in the Valley, next to 
Lucinda,who joined him in Oct 1992.
