R. boyce, Jr., Rev. W. C. Shippen united in marriage Mr. Peyton T. Williams to Miss Missie Bevens. The wedding was a strictly private one, only about half a dozen friends of the groom being present. After congratulations had been extended to the newly wedded couple, refreshments were served, and shortly thereafter the bride and groom repaired to their residence, on the west side of the city, where they entertained a large number of friends "right royally" from eight to eleven o'clock p.m. The bridal presents consisted of a beautiful silver tea set (seven pieces) and half a dozen silver spoons, presented by about a dozen young bachelor friends; half a dozen each of knives, silver forks and tea-spoons, by the mother of the bride; one dozen napkins from Mrs. J. R.Boyce, Jr., and toilet and table linen from Mrs. J. R. Boyce, Sr. The bride is a stranger in our midst, having just arrived from Callaway county, Missouri, but we trust that she may find her new home a pleasant one. The bridegroom is an old settler, is known to all our people as an upright business man and liberal minded citizen, who, is both public and private life has demeaned himself in a manner to meet the cordial approval of his fellow citizens. We wish them a pleasant voyage through life, and trust their "days may be long in the land".
