Helena Daily Herald  Monday December 14, 1874
Dr. L. Daems, Tresurer of Madison county, died at his home in Virginia City, 
on Wednesday evening, th inst., age 52 years,  He was a native of Belgium, 
came to the Untied States in 1856 and to Montana in 1863, and located in Alder 
Gulch, where he was long engage in the drug business and in the practice of 
medicine.  He wa an intelligent gentleman, popular with his fellow-citizens, 
who honored him with variours offices of trust and emolument, among which were 
member of both houses of Legislative Assemble, Mayor of Virginia City, Coroner 
and Treasurer of Madison County.  He was last Auguest re-elected Treasurer for 
the term beginning March, 1875,  The deceased leaves a wfie and a family of 
five children.
