The body was taken to Ennis, where is will be buried by the side of Mrs. Romey, who died in 1872. Mr. Romey was born in Switzerland, July 29, 1823, and came to American in 1858, locating in St. Joseph, Mo. He came to Alder gulch in 1863 and soon after established Romey's gardens, the frist truck garden in this part of the state. He worked it and supplied this part of the state with vegetables up to 1877, and then operated a passenger and express line between Virginia City and Puller Springs. After that he took up some placer ground on Springs creek and devoted himself to placer mining for seven years. Later he took up a ranch near Ennis and lived there until several years ago, when he sold out and visited his old home in Missouri. Returning to Montana he made his home with his children, of whom he has seven who survive him.
