Anaconda Standard -- August 14, 1907
Pony, Aug. 13. -- William Lafayette Taft, ages 65 years 9 months 14 days, died 
at his residence in this city Sunday of paralysis. Mr. Taft was born in Huron 
county, Ohio, Oct. 27, 1842, and came to Montana at the age of 21, arriving at 
Nevada City Sept. 15, 1863. the deceased was a familiar figure in Madison 
county, where he had resided for more than 40 years.

By occupation Mr. Taft was a mill man, and for many years had been an employee 
of the late William Morris, kind-hearted, sympathetic and scrupulously honest, 
Mr. Taft enjoyed a wide circle of friends, who sincerely mourn his loss.
