McCurdy killed Jack Orr, at Thompson Falls, Aug. 16. McCurdy claims that Orr was in a compromising position in his sister's room; that Orr had a pistol, attempted to use it, and fired the first shot. McCurdy's sister is a widow, with a family, which she has suported for a number of years. The evidence, except that of the sister, corroborates his story. The jury found him guilty of manslaughter and sentence will be pased Tuesday. A coroner's inquest was held to-day on the body of Gen. Magee, who commited suicide yesterday on his ranch, eleven miles west of Missoula. Magee was a young farmer, with a wife and three children. By the evidence it seems that a short time since his wife left him and came to Missoula. Yesterday he received a letter for her stating that she would not return to him. A short time after this he went to his room, placed the muzzle of a rifle to his breast and discharged it.
