Coroner Charles J. James and Undersheriff W.H. Goodspeed were called from Broadus and after a careful examination the coroner announced that death was caused by a heart attack. Just before his death, he had talked with a neighbor and had asked him to help him with a sick sheep, and when the man returned in a few minutes saw the horse without a rider and Mankameyer lying on the ground lifeless. As there were no marks of violence on the body or no dirt of any kind on the clothing that would indicate a fall, Dr. James concluded that Mr. Mankameyer had felt a heart attack coming on and had dismounted and laid down, death coming almost immediately afterward. The deceased leaves a widow and two children, Emma and Willie, who are attending school in Miles City. It is expected that burial will take place at Sheridan, Wyo., as the family had resided there at times. A highly respected man and an esteemed neighbor was Mr. Mankameyer.
