Zollman, Martin SILENCED DREAM The American dream; Misted over the sea and stretched toward Ireland with a gleam The hazy sweetness drizzled upon the land Bringing new hope to many first hand Patrick was soaked to his very soul with thoughts of new life and a new role. A quest lay before him A future, more uncertain than famine bleak lands hiding in the dim. But in his heart shone a bright star, Guiding him across sea and land to a place a far. Everything familiar was gone in a wink And all that stayed behind were unshed tears, which would one day write his epitaph in ink. His new life blossomed and thrived And so his sister Catherine was called and arrived. But before she came, his destiny was preordain An officer he was to be, to die on duty, slain. He appeared as a muscled giant, man of law But was only a dreamer, seeking to fulfill what he saw And on that chilly night his fighting spirit sought no doctor but only his sister's hand as his soul crept from his body and into God's everlasting splendor. by Kristen Kristich Great Grandniece of Patrick Dougherty, who died at the age of 38 in the line of duty as an Anaconda police officer.
