He was a native of Richmond, Ky., and crossed the plains from Missouri to Montana in 1864, locating at Alder gulch. His occupation was that of a farmer and he followed this after leaving Alder Gulch, in Deer Lodge county, his late home being at Helmville. The Helena masonic lodge, with which fraternity he was affillated, will hold special commiseration services tomorrow. September 1, 1909 Helena, Aug. 31. -- The funeral of William Williams, the Montana pioneer, who died recently at Helmville, was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church and was attended by a delegation form helena lodge, No. 3, A. F. and A.M., with which lodge he was affillated. the services were conducted by Rev. James F. McNamee and the body was conveyed to Forestvale for interment, "beside the body of Mr. Williams' wife, who died in Helena two years ago. Mr. Williams was one of the oldest members of the Masonic fraternity in Montana.
