Mr. Chambers was born Feb. 20, 1823, and came to Alder gulch in 1863. In 1869 Mr. Chambers came to the Bitter Root valley, where he has since resided. In 1881 he was elected to represent Missoula county in the lower house of the legislature and in 1886 he was appointed postmaster at Grantsdale. He was well known all over the state and was highly esteemed. HIs funeral will be held Friday and will be attended by many old timers.
