J. Shannon to-day received a telegram from Spokane announcing the death in that city of their 9-year old daughter, Kathleen Shannon. The child died at the Academy of the Holy Name this morning after an illness of about one week's duration. The latter part of last week the parents received word that the little girl was much impoved and on the road to recovery. From what can be learned, she was suffering from a severe cold. The new of the death was indeed a severe shock to the parens as well as the entire communtiy. The little girl, in company with her elder sisters, Clara and Monica, left here Sept. 1 to attend school in Spokane. This was her first year away from home. At the time of ther departure from Hamilton she was the picture of health, and that death should claim her so soon seems impossible. Kathleen Shannon numbered her friends amount both old and young. Mr. Shannon left Hamilton this afternoon for Spokane, and will return to-morrow with the body. No funeral arrangements have been made.
