The Kelly girl was struck by a taxicab as she stepped off the curb on East Park street in the heart of the business district, about 2 a.m. She was dragged for more than 150 feet before the cab was stopped, authorities said. She died before she could be taken to a hospital. Dixie LaHood, well known prizefighter, the driver of the cab, was being held in the county jail here tonight without bail. Manslaughter charges will be preferred against him tomorrow. Chief Deputy County Attorney, N. A. Rotering said. LaHood reported the accident to police immediately after it happened. Holland, returning from a country dance, was fatally injured when his car struck a stretch of sand beside the road three miles south of Butte and turned over twice. Passersby hurried him to a hospital where he died within a few minutes.
