Anaconda Standard, Friday, March 2, 1928
After a three weeks' illness, Gus Matson, a native of Finland and a resident of 
Butte for 16 years, succumbed yesterday morning. He was employed at the West 
Colusa mine when he was taken ill and was 39 years of age. He is survived by 
his widow, Mrs. Jennie Matson, a son, Homer, and a daughter, Sigrid, all of 
Butte. He also has a brother, Andy Matson, in Illinois, and his father, Albi 
Matson, in Finland. The body has been removed to the Sherman & Reed mortuary.
