Neeley, one of the well known resident of the Butte district, died unexpectedly last evening, after a brief illness. He was 42 years old and a native of Missouri. His residence was at 305 West Granite. He had lived about 20 years in Butte. Neeley was an engineer and for a number of years past had been employed in the Modoc mine. He had been a sufferer from stomach trouble, but he bravely continued his work until Wednesday, when he was compelled to give up his shift because of illness. The physician who was called yesterday found his condition to be critical and suggested his removal to a local hospital. This was done, but the inroads of the disease had been so strong that the vitality of the engineer was sapped and he passed away just at the moment he arrived at the hospital. Surviving Mr. Neeley are his wife and two children. He leaves a brother and two sisters in Oklahoma and a sister in Los Angeles. He was a member of Butte camp, No. 153, Woodmen of the World, of the Women of Woodcraft, the American Yeomen and the engineers' union. The body is at Richards' undertaking rooms, where it will he held until relatives are heard from. Mr. Neeley was a warm personal friend of former Mayor Corby and took an active interest in matters political. He had a wide circle of friends, and there was genuine regret last night when the news of his death became known.
