Orton Dies At Home In Bute [sic] Word was received yesterday afternoon by A. W. Orton [Alfred Wallace Orton] of the death of his brother, Fred L. Orton [Frederick Lloyd Orton Sr.], in Butte Friday afternoon [June 15] at 1:30, after an illness of only a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Orton returned last Sunday evening from Butte, being summoned there on account of the serious illness of his brother, the doctors giving little hope of his ultimate recovery, so the news was not a surprise, though it was a shock to the brother and his family. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Orton and son Wallace leave by auto this morning for Butte, where funeral services will be conducted on Sunday afternoon [June 17], and the body will be shipped to Helena for interment in the family lot of Mrs. Fred Orton’s [Jean (Nimmo) Orton] parents [John Nimmo]. Deceased was known as one of the Orton Brothers, sons of early day pioneers. He had visited in Bozeman a number of times and had many friends here who will be sorry to hear of his death. He is the next brother younger than Al Orton of Bozeman, and is survived by his wife [Jean (Nimmo) Orton ] and a son [Frederick Lloyd Orton Jr.] five years old.” END Additional Comments: Bozeman Daily Chronicle, June 16, 1923.
