All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mt/mtfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com July 13, 2008, 9:42 pm Morning Oregonian September 25, 1904 Glasgow,Mont.,Sept.24- Mrs.John Motner has been arrested,charged with complicity in the murder of her husband nearly a year ago.Motner was shot and killed by Walter Dye,who reported the homicide to the authorities,claiming he shot in self defense.Dye was herding sheep for Motner at the time.After reporting the deed,Dye asked to be permitted to return to the ranch and take care of the sheep,saying he would be there when wanted,and as Mrs.Motner corroborated his story in every particular,he was released. Later the officers secured new evidence,and took Dye into custody.Now they state that they have learned that shortly before the death of her husband,Mrs.Motner asked a friend whether or not she would inherit his whole estate if Motner should be killed.She is now confined in the same jail as the slayer of her husband.
